A 4 Day Trip to Miami for $200

Welcome back friends, todays post will be a quick trip to Miami from NYC for $200 including flight and hotel. Most of the activities we did were free except maybe one. If you’re from NYC you know the quickest getaway is a trip to Miami. The sun, the beach, and everything in between helps for an escape. Some of us even say it’s a part of NYC. Probably because a night out here is equivalent to a weekend down there.

That’s besides the point, I’m here to help you secure your next trip for a fraction of the price you are used to spending. As the saying goes “ Money does not grow on trees” therefore you gotta make the best out of the money you have in your pocket! This trip was taken in mid August right before one of my birthdays. We spent most of those 4 days bathing in the sun and swimming. If you’ve read my previous posts or heard my podcasts you would know exactly how I feel about warm tropical destinations. They are *chefs kiss* magnificent. I’m a beach type of girl so that’s what I look for in most of my trips.

Okay let’s get straight into it. Like I’ve stated in my previous posts, flights should be the first thing you’re looking for. Hotels and Airbnb’s will always be cheap! Flights to Miami range from low to high because of the seasons and the holidays. I previously stated that as one of my key points. AVOID traveling during those peak times. Everything will be far more expensive and busy. Instead travel when nobody is really traveling. For example when school starts, September is always a good time to travel for us. School is starting back up, summer is over and people have work to get back to and some have children that need to attend school. AKA a perfect time to travel if you are looking for peaceful vacations in places that are usually rowdy and upbeat.

I payed about $62 round trip for my flight from NYC to MIAMI. I booked the flight on Expedia. That’s only because I had already checked all the major sites that give discounts and they all were around the same price so I went with Expedia for the points I get everytime I book with them. I’ve said this before but this is crucial and important for future saving tips. Create accounts anytime you book something so you receive points that can deduct certain costs off your vacation or even giving you a free night!

We went to this really cute posh hotel in South Beach called Hotel Pierre. I just tried going on their site they are permanently closed unfortunately. Many places will be shut down now because of Miss Corona, so please bare with me if any of the locations I’ve gone to have closed I will try to let you know in advance, incase you were trying to book the same hotel or activities. The hotel was clean, staff were cheery and kind. Only downside was no breakfast. If you can, try to take advantage of those hotel deals that come with breakfast they will save you. Alright now back to business, day 1 was a relaxing day. We spent the day at the beach and just enjoying the weather. That’s usually what we do. Day 1 is always just the day you hang out and chill same goes for the last day a lot of times. Day 2 is when the fun began. Since we had never been there before and this was our first time.

We explored all of south beach from the beginning to the end. By 5pm we were exhausted and hot! So we hit the beach for about an hour or so and went back to the hotel. We went for dinner at a place called The Tavern. Their food is delicious, everytime we go to Miami we try to go there at-least once. Yikes just checked, it is now “ temporarily closed” sorry y’all. Nonetheless there are plenty of good spots to eat down there that are affordable and tasty. The next day we got bikes and went to downtown Miami and explored that area and went to a supermarket because we figured the ones by us are over priced and this one won’t be as bad. We stocked up on water bottles and snacks as we usually do on every vacation. P.S that is another major key. Purchase water the first or second day you arrive to avoid paying for over priced water bottles in the touristy locations. Snacks are great to throw in your book bag to keep you satisfied until your next meal. They are even better when you are doing activities and they try to sell you a bag of chips for $4 and a bottle of water for $6. Even if you don’t have a fridge in your hotel the AC will do a great job in keeping your bottles cool. Keep that in mind folks.

Next day we had some breakfast at our favorite sandwich shop. It’s called “La Sandwicherie”. Their sandwiches are delicious and made with love! After our breakfast we headed down to the beach and swam for about an hour or so. Headed back to the hotel and showered and went to our next activity. We went to a virtual reality place since we had never done VR. The place was about 45 mins to an hour away from where we were staying. VR was a fun experience. Right outside the place was this interesting old antique cars and real vintage items. I’m not sure if it was a museum or not but it was fun and we were browsing and wide eyed the whole time we were there. P.S VR costed about $15 for an hour. We booked with Groupon. Most activities we book are already heavily discounted and bought from sites such as Groupon. The rest of the day we biked and went sight seeing and ended it with a nice swim.

Traveling can often be cheap if you know what you are looking for. If you don’t then you will assume any “ low “ price is the best price you can find. Well it is not and you can do better. Always have that mindset because I certainly do. Free activities are always great as well, for one they are FREE. Who doesn’t like those types of activities ? I assume nobody because we all like getting free things. But they are out there you just have to look and do your due diligence.

Happy and safe travels my budget friendly audience. I’ll speak to you again soon!
